Week in Review - September 24-30

Hey y'all!  Just me again...week in review time!

This week started off with a lot of rain!  I know, it's the end of September in the Pacific NW, what should I expect?  But we've been spoiled still with a lot of really great weather, so the monsoons of rain and wind were highly unwanted and unexpected.
And then the world ended and for the first time in months and months, I actually had to put on my jeans and runners to go to work!  GASP!
Promptly thereafter though, the clouds parted and the sun came out, and I quickly put my flip flops back on! :)
In other mind-blowing news, I broke the 114,000 km mark on the Mazda!  Too bad I have to give it away to be demolished....
Excuse the blur... I took this while I drove :-P  ooops!  In other car news, I still haven't found a new car, but I'm confident that I will once we get back from the Feast.  This coming week is so completely full with trying to get everything ready to go away - cleaning house, organizing clothes, working, working, working.... you know the drill... I don't think we'll have time to take the old car in and look for anything new for me.  So I'm holding off on any more car shopping until we get back from Kellogg.

Dad got the new septic tank delivered this week.... tell me what it reminds you of....
A ginormous black grenade?!  YUP!  Crazy eh? :) I was expecting something oblong and ovalish....but instead we have this awesome looking thing ;)  And a glimpse of Jakey for your viewing pleasure - he is such a dork :)

I took this photo on Friday night - I was relaxing in my room and Jake came down to join me and cuddled up at my feet.  Then Oreo sauntered in a little while later and decided to be as close to me as possible....pushing Jakey a bit out of the way and in the process touching him... Jake does not like to be touched by Oreo :)  So you can see the concern and pleading in his eyes in this photo....hahaha!

BABY UPDATE:

Mom won tickets to the Vancouver Island Baby Fair this past weekend - woohoo, free stuff!  It was a great afternoon :)  I ran into my friend Kim and her sweet baby Frankie (awwww!!!), as well as my friend Ashley (with her sweetie Ava) who was there with her sister.  I entered all the contests and collected all sorts of business cards and flyers and free pens and other swag... I didn't win anything, but I did see a whole lot of cool stuff.  A lot of it was super expensive, but it gave us some ideas of things to make and find elsewhere for cheaper ;)
This was me before Baby Fair - 28 weeks pregnant!  Bump's getting a bit bigger!

I had my appointment with the Diabetic Clinic on Wednesday (my bday - woohoo, what a way to spend my afternoon eh?!)  I met with a nurse who set me up with a blood sugar meter and taught me how to use it:
...and then I met with a Nutritionist who gave me all sorts of tips and advice on meal planning and the proper things to eat.  I learned a lot!  I've been making myself a protein shake a couple times a week - I usually eat it with a piece of toasted sprouted grain bread with about a tablespoon of Adams peanut butter.
Deliciousness!  I put in 1/2 cup Vanilla Almond Milk, 1/4 cup Green juice (it's high in sugar due to all the fruit in it, so I don't use a lot, but it's so good for you!), a good couple dashes of cinnamon, 1 tbsp of protein powder, 1/2 cup of mixed berries, and 1 tbsp of ground flax seed for fiber.  I'm loving it!

My Mom's been making and planning all sorts of wonderful and beautiful knitted and sewn items for our little girl - I am so lucky to have a Mom who is so willing to spread her talent and make amazing things!  She found this pattern for teeny tiny knitted Mary Jane booties (which matched a pattern that my good friend Suzanne had sent me from Colorado) - she found a gorgeously soft bamboo silk yarn, and knitted up these gems, complete with pearl buttons!:
And just to emphasize how absolutely teeny tiny these are, here's Mom holding one in her palm:
Baby Girl's first pair of black church shoes!!

I had an appointment with my maternity doc this week as well, and she set me up for a non-stress test and ultrasound when I get back from the Feast (at my 32 week mark).  On the same day I also have a follow up appointment with the diabetes clinic so they can determine whether I'm controlling my blood sugars okay with food, or whether I need to be on insulin.  I asked if they do pills at all, but nope, they go directly from diet controlled to insulin if necessary.  Oh well - my sugars are looking good these past couple days, so I have hope that I can do this with diet :)  I will have another non-stress test and ultrasound at the 36 week mark as well.  Hard to believe that will be coming up here before we know it!

I've also been asked by a few friends in the States lately whether I've registered anywhere for our little girl.  I hadn't even really thought about it!  But it seemed like a good idea :)  So I registered with two of my favourite stores in the States:  Kohls and Target!  I am in no way particular about things like clothes or anything like that.  I added some outfits and sleepers and things to both registries to give people an idea of what I liked, but I really am not particular at all :)  I don't have a lot of things like the general accessories yet - washcloths, soothers, bath stuff, bibs, etc, etc.  I am in no way expecting people to buy me stuff either, and I kind of feel weird about putting it out there.... but people have been asking, which is super sweet, so.... :)

I hope everyone has a great week!  it's going to be a busy one for my family as we're getting ready to go to our annual church convention next Tuesday, so there's a lot of stuff to get ready around the house, etc.  But the countdown is definitely on - I get to see my sister and William in 9 days, and Luke in 10!!! :)  So excited!!
